With this rubbish removal company’s great find, other antique collectors have big boots to fill
I’m always pleased when I get one great antique from a job, but when I get two, it’s like Christmas.
In a Queens estate cleanout, I was hired to get rid of all the belongings in a house where the owner had passed away. There, I found an original framed certificate of a New York Fire Department battalion chief named Peter Loftus, along with his fire boots, from 1934.
I can’t be certain who Loftus was — he could have been the man who passed away. Or he could have been the father of the man who passed away. Either way, I’m proud to call them part of my collection.
