What keeps this Queens rubbish removal company ‘driven’? Awesome antiques like these.

This is an original motor vehicle registration card from 1959. It belonged to a man named Louis Raguseo, who lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and, apparently, drove a 1953 blue Plymouth sedan.

I found it sandwiched between pages of a New York state driver’s manual that was published any time from 1955 to 1958, the time that former Gov. Averell Harriman was in office.

Both items were found in a Queens house cleanout, and both items have a nice home in my office.

Did you know? New York was the first state to require license plates on cars.

  1. Hi Nick, it looks like it’s in good condition. Did you ever contact the owners?

    • Carole – When I was on this job, the owners didn’t want to keep any of the remaining items, so I was just able to take this vehicle registration and NY state driver’s manual. Thanks for your interest in the blog.

      Nick
