Queens rubbish removal company finds 1950s NYC Sightseeing Tours brochure
This sightseeing brochure is sure a sight to see.
Years ago, I found this New York City sightseeing tour brochure when I was doing a full house cleanout in Bayside, Queens. After the house was sold, the former owner had left behind all of his old debris, including this brochure. Along with old photographs and books, it was carelessly stored in a desk drawer in the attic.

Queens rubbish removal company found this NYC Sightseeing Tours brochure in full basement clean-out in Bayside, Queens.
I’m always interested in old documents like this one because of the graphics; the image of the bus, complete with a curved windshield and windows, helps confirm that it dates to the 1950s. And, if you’re not convinced it’s from that decade, read the find print: “Gentlemen must wear jackets and ties. Reservations are required.” That’s for an $11 tour. Today, tourists wear comfortable white sneakers and a T-shirt to wander the city, and tours are up to $85, according to citysightsny.com. Trust me – I like my sneakers and comfy clothes, but I’d put on that suit and tie if the price dropped to $11.
