Garbage collector Nick DiMola gets his read on with book of Chaucer poems from 1700s
At this point in my career as a garbage collector, I’ve got so much stuff in my garage that I don’t even know where half of it came from anymore. This old book of Chaucer poems has been sitting on my desk for a number of years now, and I just happened to look at it the other day and I realized how old it was. I found in it a typical house cleanout in Brooklyn, New York.
The book, “Poetical Works of Geoff Chaucer,” is the 10th of 14 volumes and has works from various authors from the 1700s. It’s super small in size, weighing in at barely a pound and measuring about the size of my hand.
Any trash pick up job that leads to picking up a good read is A-OK in my book.
