Garbage pickup NYC company discovers Coca-Cola is refreshing in more ways than one
This might be a photo negative, but there ain’t nothing negative about it.
Years ago, I found this photo negative in an estate cleanout. I couldn’t even tell you when or where, but I remember going through the negatives. At 3.5 inches by 2.25 inches, this black-and-white negative caught my eye because of the Coca-Cola sign in the background. You see, I collect Coca-Cola memorabilia, and as you may have seen in an older post or two, I also enjoy collecting photos of items I already have. I get to see the items in their natural element. I get to see them being used how they were meant to be used. I get to see them in a place other than on my office shelf.
So when I saw this photo of these two guys goofing around in front a 1930s Coca-Cola sign — the same Coca-Cola sign I have hanging in my garage — I was floored, naturally. My particular sign is from 1934, and most of the ones I’ve found online were manufactured in the 1930s. The photo was probably taken at some point during the ’30s or ’40s.
I’ve already taken the negative to be developed, so I’ll have the photo within a week. Stay tuned for the final result!
