Hello? Anyone there? Queens trash pickup company finds vintage rotary phone in garbage cleanout

Vintage rotary phone, found in the garbage

Have you ever found an object in the trash that you thought was so cool that you gave it a name?

Well, I have.

Bumble Bee Hotline

I got this phone out of the garbage and named it “Bumble Bee Hotline” because of its insect-like black-and-yellow exterior. When I found it, it was dusty and dirty, sporting a thick layer of residue from the garbage. I cleaned it up, and now it shines.

The phone, which is a rotary phone, currently doesn’t work, but I can change that with the right wires and phone jack. Phones like this are selling for anywhere from $1 to $200 on auction sites, such as eBay, according to my basic research.

I love the color combo and overall look of the phone. These days, we’re seeing fewer and fewer phones like this, but they were quite popular back in the day — just ask your grandparents!

  1. Hi Nick, what an unusual color combo! Never saw a bi-color phone. Mine were always completely black! Have fun trying to make it work!
