Raining dolls in demo job

EATEN DOLL PARTS

About four years ago, I was on a demolition job in Little Italy on Mulberry Street. It was this 4,000-square-foot third-floor loft in an old manufacturing building. We were tearing through the walls and knocking everything out. As soon as we started ripping through the ceiling, all these little pieces of dolls started pouring down on us. There must have been hundreds of them.

My guess is that the building had been a doll factory, back in the 1930s and ’40s. Rats must have made nests and eaten parts of the dolls. The result? Well, whatever fell on my head.
