Kitchen cabinet removal – You ‘can’ find cool stuff!

Who would have thought that garbage found underneath old, rusty, dirty, disgusting sinks could be so cool?

As I was removing the porcelain sink in the kitchen, I found two boxes of household cleaning powder, two cans of Raid roach and ant killer, one giant can of Master Glow floor polish, and a can of Aerowax “No Rubbing” floor wax.

My crew and I ripped out the entire kitchen, which was practically rotting inside an old apartment in Queens. The person who had lived there had died, and a relative contacted DiMola Bros to do the job.

These old-school cleaning supplies have been there since at least 1959. I have never been in an apartment where items have been sitting there that long. Just by looking around, I could see that this family lived with the bare necessities, as they never threw anything out — even if the items were decades old.

I love the coloring and lettering on the old advertisements. It’s the main reason I just had to take them. The 3-cent discount on the Soilax household cleaner is hysterical — it doesn’t seem like much. But in this disastrous economy, maybe we should start caring about saving three pennies!
